At
the picturesque year round Ballard Avenue
location you'll find a vast selection of just-picked organic
fruits and vegetables from Washington farms and orchards,
as well as wildcraftings—honeys, jams, jellies, mushrooms,
sauces, spices and herbs. For the complete produce calendar
please click
"What's Fresh When?"
You'll also find fresh goat and other specialty cheeses, pasture-finished, hormone-free
meats, wild fish, free range poultry & eggs—not
to mention dazzling arrays of flowers and hot oven-fresh
breads, a wine bar and coffee shop. Adding local brilliance will be craftsmen designers of furniture,
ceramics, garden art, jewelry and much more as well as purveyors
of hand-made soaps, lotions, perfumes and exotica. There’s
over one hundred vendors in mid-season in a block long street market..
The Market goes
all year round, albeit with fewer produce vendors in the
winter owing to the seasonality of most growers, but wild
tuna and shrimp, orchard fruits, fresh picked organic hot house greens
and vegetables are still available as well as a variety
of offerings from crafters.
The
Farmers Market began in 1990 in Fremont. In 2000 the Fremont
Sunday Market split in two, sending the Farmers Market and
a significant number of original crafts people here to Ballard.
It continues to blossum today as Fremont’s sister market
in historic Ballard Avenue. We urge you to discover this
beautiful European-style farmers markets and explore the rest of the neighborhoods while you’re here.
We gratefully acknowledge Mayor Nickels and the City of Seattle, and our merchant neighbors and customers in Ballard whose support makes this wonderful market possible.
