This week's vendor spotlight highlights a long-time vendor, Brittany Burkhardt who can be found in our indoor Hypermarket every Sunday, as well as featured in multiple magazines like Rock n' Gem magazine and teaches classes and private events.
Brittany’s table is a MUST SEE at the Fremont Sunday Market. Whether or not you are “into” minerals or fossils, a trip to this table may be just the experience you need. A visit here is like a trip to a museum. Brittany knows her stuff and is happy to share her knowledge with others. Hand collecting many of these minerals and fossil specimens from the Earth herself; she has many adventurous and inspirational stories to share. Not only that, but she has exceptional specimens at surprisingly reasonable prices.
Catch her at the right time and she has amazing one-of-a-kind jewelry, a lot of which she makes with her stones. Do you have someone in your life that is hard to buy gifts for? How about a meteorite or some glacier-preserved wooly mammoth hair? You can stop by any Sunday, year-round to visit this exquisite collection. Her table is located in the “heart of the market,” just inside the parking garage. Have a collection to sell, or a piece to identify? Brittany buys collections and is happy to help identify your specimens.
HOW HAS THE MARKET SUPPORTED YOUR SMALL BUSINESS?
People have been suggesting I vend this market for years before I listened. Fremont is two hours from my house. I wrote if off as not worth the trek. I finally checked it out a few years ago, and found out that I was wrong! I love it and I have been vending here ever since. Good people, cool finds, yummy food-I’m hooked!
TELL US SOMETHING UNIQUE ABOUT YOUR BUSINESS?
I hand select all of my specimens. I dig many of them myself with my blood sweat and tears. I am very passionate and have had a calling for this since I was a child. Little did I know that when I was selling granite to my neighbors from underneath my parents’ bushes, I was training for my career in the mineral field!
